Offer for Part-Time Veterinary Associate - $75 - $95/hr. depending upon experience.  This opportunity could become full-time if desired with pro-sal method of payment. Health insurance 65% of coverage for those who work more than 30 hours/wk. Hours can be flexible for example for working mothers. 1 association membership is covered as long as they are relevant to the practice (AVMA, HCVMA, TVMA, etc.) Vin.com is available for access. Liability insurance, CE and licensing fees, and personal pet care can be negotiated. Normal full-time veterinary hours are within these time frames: Mon-Fri. 8am-6pm and Sat. 8am-12pm with one day off a week.  Part –time schedule can be negotiated within those time frames. We provide for 4 pairs of uniforms per year.  Any additional required per year would be deducted from your paycheck. We are a small animal/exotic practice in an affluent community with many compliant clients. Bay Glen Animal Hospital, located outside of Houston, TX in the beautiful Clear Lake community, is a busy 4 doctor practice that was established in 1990 to provide excellent, compassionate care. We offer full-service health care that includes wellness exams, preventative vaccinations, major medical critical care, examinations, diagnosis and treatment of diseases, surgery (including spays and neuters), dentistry, radiology, and in-house diagnostic laboratory tests. We also perform routine testing for heartworms, intestinal parasites, disease screening and other microscopic exams. We are a small animal practice with some small “pocket pets”, small psittacines and the occasional small, non-venomous reptiles (comfort with providing exams and basic medical care to exotics is a plus but not required). Previous experience in general practice and AVImark experience is a plus, but position is open to both new graduates and experienced clinicians alike! There are occasional walk-in emergencies during clinic hours, but no after-hours emergency calls! We offer tools to allow you to practice quality medicine including Ultrasound, Digital Radiography (full body and dental), therapeutic laser, in-house Lab and Pharmacy, and most importantly, a terrific team of experienced support staff. Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists (GCVS) is looking for a qualified Hospitalist to join our team of emergency doctors and specialists to assist in providing excellent in-house patient care. The hospitalist will work closely with the emergency doctor team, assisting in the intake and management of hospitalized patients and facilitating transfers to the appropriate specialty service as needed. The hospitalists will be responsible for managing hospitalized emergency patients, creating and recommending treatment plans, maintaining and updating medical records and communicating with clients. The hospitalist will communicate with specialists and facilitate transfers to specialty services as needed.

Hospitalist responsibilities:  Hospitalist will engage in full-time attendance during their scheduled shift to receive transfers from the emergency veterinarians that require hospitalization. Patients may be transferred the same day to specialists or the following day. Patients may also be discharged by the Hospitalist on the following day.

Hospitalist will receive minor follow up appointments that come through as “same day emergencies” as well as low acuity same-day emergencies. These will be the “fast track” emergencies.

The Hospitalist may also receive minor follow up appointments that come through as “same day emergencies” as well as low acuity same-day emergencies, Provide Excellent patient care, Create and recommend treatment plans, Update patient information in medical records with the latest findings and treatments, Order diagnostic tests for health-care staff to administer Review and interpret test results, Prescribe pharmaceuticals based on diagnostic results and physical exam findings, Respond to questions from patient owners regarding their care and well-being, Discuss patient lab results with owners, Work with both emergency doctors as well as specialists to provide optimal patient care, Provide timely discharge summaries (24 hours) to referring veterinarians and provide referring DVM updates, Attend daily rounds

Requirements: DVM or VMD licensed to practice veterinary medicine in the state of Texas, Active DEA license, Minimum of 5 years of practice experience, Excellent verbal and written communication skills
